The beginning of a collection

11.30am on a Sunday morning and we find ourselves wandering around the Marché aux Puces de St-Ouen Flea Market, to our surprise we recognized a familiar voice effortlessly floating over the active local hum. The famed art historian Mr. Ben Street was searching for items to furnish his new apartment, we had an brief but enjoyable chat then continued with our research.

We were here because of a comment Elena had made about Delarue’s fascinating collection, apparently this is where it all started. Browsing through the vast amount of historical detritus it was easy to drift to past times and Surrealist Paris.
